Dartmoor Survival Knife

The Wilkinson Sword Survival Knife has been known as one of the best survival knife and the dream of many collectors and adventurers worldwide.  Although  the renowned company ceased production  in 2005,  some of its best knives are still available under the name of Dartmoor Knives.  Some of the knives are unfinished or partly finished but all are of the same high quality.   The Dartmoor Survival Knife is a big knife just the way survival knives were designed back in the 80s.  It resembles the famous Rambo design that was popular at the time.  Although most newly designed survival knives are smaller than the Dartmoor knife this does not mean bigger knives are less useful.  On the contrary,  when you are in the wilderness and  your survival knife is all you have,  tasks such as fine carving or cutting small trees are not your top priority.  What you need is a reliable survival knife with an excellent survival kit. This is exactly what the designers of the Dartmoor knive had in mind.  The knife comes with an additional survival equipment stored in the handle in an unusual way.  This is a full tang survival knife but the handle is hollow in the middle where a small tube is hidden.  The tube includes the survival kit with a compass,  fishing line and hooks,  scalpel blade,  needles and old style fireflash.    The Dartmoor knives arrive blunt so you need to sharpen the knives which is easy and they hold an edge well.  If you are outdoors you need to have a sharpener to keep the blade sharp and one of the good tools is Fallkniven DC4 stone.   The sheath is with more storage compartments so you can keep some of the survival items in the sheath.

>Dartmoor Knife Steel Finish -   the knife comes in its naked steel finish and although it may have some minor scratches on the blade,  the knife is ready to use.  The package contains Wilkinson Sword CSK 185 Blade in Steel finish with a handle that has a lanyard rivet and pommel nut,  scabbard,  belt hanger and an empty survival kit.  There is a compass and a handbook in the survival tube.  The blade that you get is with the saw tooth  and spear point that is used for piercing.  This is a strong,  durable blade with 185mm in length made of 440C stainless steel .  The Dartmoor survival knife weighs 640g with the blade thickness of 6mm.

>Scabbard for Dartmoor Knife -  the scabbard is made of high impact nylon and has a storage part where you can keep the brass wire .  The scabbard is unused and does not include a belt hanger or brass wire.

This excellent survival knife will be most effective at chopping wood to make a fire which is easy with the Dartmoor firestick that produces a shower of sparks.  The knife is also great for digging,  making wire snares and making shelters.   You can actually spend a few days living in the wilderness with your backpack and use the Dartmoor survival knife for most tasks you need to survive.
